This Listening Session is an opportunity for Minnesotans in the Twin Cities Area area to leave the tiresome outrage and unhealthy division behind.

We’re seeking residents in this area from different backgrounds, experiences, and viewpoints to speak honestly about what matters to them as neighbors and to listen to others. In this structured conversation, we will explore what actions we could take together to strengthen civic trust and solve challenges for the common good.

Co-sponsored by the Somali Youth & Family Development Center (SOMFAM), this Listening Session is one in a series that will be held around the state for a new statewide project, Minnesota: Land of Neighbors. Land of Neighbors is aimed at combating unhealthy divisiveness in Minnesota. Organized by Braver Angels Minnesota, Civic Bridgers and Common Ground USA, the campaign is funded by a group of Minnesota foundations.

SOMFAM envisions a thriving Twin Cities community where Somali and East African immigrant families and individuals are empowered through education, mentorship, and professional resources to achieve long-term stability and success. As a community-led organization, they strive to build a strong foundation where empowered families drive collective prosperity, resilience, and opportunity for future generations.
