What does neighboring look like?
Host a Listening Session
Across Minnesota, people are gathering in living rooms, houses of worship, union halls, and community centers to talk about what they value and what kind of neighbors they want to be. We're inviting organizations and community groups across the state to host one of these conversations, and we'll cover the cost!
Listening Session in Hibbing
MN: Land of Neighbors and the St. Louis County Suicide Prevention Coalition are co-sponsoring a listening session in Hibbing, MN.
This session is an opportunity for St. Louis County Minnesotans from different backgrounds, experiences, and viewpoints to speak honestly about what matters to them as neighbors and to hear from others. It’s part of a series of listening sessions being held across the state by Land of Neighbors where what Minnesotans share with us will lead to efforts to improve our neighborliness toward one another.
Land of Neighbors is proud to partner with the St. Louis County Suicide Prevention Coalition on this event. The coalition formed in response to community concern about the loss of neighbors to suicide and other tragedies tied to mental health. And, its efforts are a response by the St. Louis community to care for its neighbors facing these challenges.
Iron Range towns and communities are strong and have a reputation for showing up as neighbors to lend a hand-up during difficult times. The coalition’s Iron Range Neighbor Project, featuring yard signs and posters, help remind people that ours is a community who cares. We might not know our neighbors well, and we might not share the same values and beliefs, but we show that we care by talking, listening, and being supportive, leading to a natural partnership with the Land of Neighbors for this listening sessions.
Listening Session at Pleasant Cafe by SOMFAM
MN: Land of Neighbors and the Somali Youth & Family Development Center (SOMFAM) are co-sponsoring a listening session in St. Paul, MN.
This session is an opportunity for Twin Cities Minnesotans from different backgrounds, experiences, and viewpoints to speak honestly about what matters to them as neighbors and to hear from others. It’s part of a series of listening sessions being held across the state by Land of Neighbors where what Minnesotans share with us will lead to efforts to improve our neighborliness toward one another.
Land of Neighbors is proud to partner with SOMFAM on this event. SOMFAM envisions a thriving Twin Cities community where Somali and East African immigrant families and individuals are empowered through education, mentorship, and professional resources to achieve long-term stability and success. As a community-led organization, they strive to build a strong foundation where empowered families drive collective prosperity, resilience, and opportunity for future generations.

It’s part of a series of listening sessions being held across the state by Land of Neighbors where what Minnesotans share with us will lead to efforts to improve our neighborliness toward one another.

Engage Winona cultivates stronger communities in southeast Minnesota by reigniting community participation through dialogue, support, and training. Their programs bring people together, spark ideas, and cultivate the conditions for a community where we all belong, connect, and contribute.

This Listening Session is an opportunity for Twin Cities Metro Minnesotans from different backgrounds, experiences, and viewpoints to speak honestly about what matters to them and to listen to others.
