This Listening Session is an opportunity for our neighbors in Bemidji and northwest Minnesota to imagine a stronger community and explore our shared strengths.

We’re seeking residents in this area from different backgrounds, experiences, and viewpoints to speak honestly about what matters to them as neighbors and to listen to others. In this structured conversation, we will explore what actions we could take together to strengthen civic trust and solve challenges for the common good.

Co-hosted with Minnesota Compass as part of their 2026 Greater Minnesota Roadshow, this Listening Session is one in a series that will be held around the state for a new statewide project, Minnesota: Land of Neighbors. Land of Neighbors is aimed at combating unhealthy divisiveness in Minnesota. Organized by Braver Angels Minnesota, Civic Bridgers, and Common Ground USA, the campaign is funded by a group of Minnesota foundations.

Minnesota Compass is all about bringing together local leaders, organizations, and residents to chat and make sense of social, economic, and environmental data that impacts well-being in your area. At the Northwest Roadshow, in addition to our listening session, you'll get a detailed regional dashboard and trends presentation focusing on quality-of-life topics like workforce, housing, health, and economic conditions specific to the Northwest region. You'll also have the opportunity to share how Compass can better serve your region and network with local leaders.
